ALERT RANGES
RISKMAP HELP
|
Alerts are issued for nine seperate sub-areas as indicated in the figure below.

Depending on the magnitude of the meteorological parameters and the intensity of the associated events, three categories (colors) of alerts are introduced:
.....1). Yellow (low level warning)
.....2). Orange (medium level warning)
.....3). Red (high level warning)
The table shows the different threshold values for each parameter for the nine sub-areas.

The Atmospheric Alert screen is divided into:
.....- MAP AREA
.....- ALERT DESCRIPTION LEGEND
.....- TIME SELECTION BUTTONS
1. Map Area
The Map Area is divided into nine geographical sub-areas.
Blue sub-areas are those for which there is no alert. Coloured sub-areas indicate the level of alert: yellow to orange to red in order of increasing intensity. The icon on the sub-area indicates whether the alert is for (a) strong winds, (b) heavy precipitation or (c) high/low air temperature. To view details on the alert click on the sub-area.
2. Alert Description Legend
The details of an alert are shown in the legend at the top of the screen.
.....- The ‘Area ID:' gives the name of the chosen sub-area.
.....- The ‘Alert for:' gives the parameter for which there is an alert
.....- The ‘Valid for:' gives the date and time (in 3-hour slots) of the alert
Successive alerts can be viewed by the time selection buttons
3. Time Selection Buttons
If there is more than one alert in a given sub-area the time selection buttons on the top right hand corner of the screen will be enabled.
.....- The arrow pointing right switches to the next alert ahead in time.
.....- The arrow pointing left switches to the previous alert in time.
